The No Child Left Behind Act states that students will be technology literate by eighth grade. I believe that in order to raise our students to technological literacy, instructional technology must be strong in elementary school where one hundred percent of the student population receives that instruction. It will also require more of an awareness and committment on the part of classroom teachers to integrating technology into classroom curriculum, as the classroom is the primary place where students have opportunity to practice the technology they have been taught. A crucial element for the success of intructional technology at SKS is technical support for student labs. If technical support such as set up, maintenance and operation of student labs was somewhat standardized, the equity and success of instructional technology throughout the district is likely to be greater.
