What a great group! I am going through your comments and suggestions now. When I get them organized into clean lists I will post them here and send them out to the participants.

I enjoy the connections we made - I hope you made some in your table groups (WOW an hour and a half fly by!) and maybe even generate some great ideas for collaboration across schools!

You are welcome to comment on anything on the blog but you do need to create a FREE blogger account. Keep the questions coming! :) Somehow next year we will keep this going... The k-5 advisory group is too GREAT to let it go away!

Updates: I will be able to pay you at curriculum rate for attending. I am excited to share the work that has been done this year on finding a direction. It is just the beginning as next year the District's Technology Plan expires so we need to start writing and updated one

Agenda (A few changes):

HaS Team (hardware and software standards team) - we will complete a survey to be turned in - There is a need to focus some energy on creating standards on what we are using in our labs and what we want Technology Information Services and their Onsite Team to learn and support. Please start thinking of ways in which you or your school may want to participate. We will have a survey for you to fill out to record what is already being used. **Be thinking about ways you would like to help - try software in your lab, review software in an after school committee, research and make recommendations... others??

K-5 Skills Framework - The K-5 Instructional Technology Advisory Council meet frequently this year. Our focus was to find a direction and setting a focus for computer skills that would fit into each grade level. There is a need now to interpret what that will look like for teachers. We would like to share that with you and get feedback on what to do next.

Building a technology plan - This is a big need for all schools. Let's look at a "shell" of a plan that schools could adopt and fill in their own goals. Please bring anything your school has been working on. Our intent is not to override anything you are doing but support your efforts to support your teachers and schools.

Found another blogging site that a teacher might use with her/his students. The cool thing with this one is that it allows the teacher to preview postings by the students and allow them to be public or private behind a password. Could answer some concerns with kids and the internet...

Okay Team: Time to Committ!!!
What are you presenting in June? Applications due on Friday April 5th. Here are the stats:
Payment is curriculum rate at $28.29/hour (Licensed rate - What about Carol and Deann - I'll check on that!?)

There are four sessions - each is 90 minutes
You could present one topic multiple times or up to four different topics (who is crazy enough to do that?)

If you present the same topic more than once you get paid for 4 hours of prep (once) and 1.5 for each time you present it.

If you present different topics then you are paid the prep and presentation time for each topic. (Clear as mud? Send me your questions)

Lunch is included for presenters. The four sessions are (1) 8:15 (2) 9:55 (3) 12:15 (4)1:55 (lunch is at 11:25).

Lunch will be a Tom Hewitt rendition of the teacher perspective of "Smarty Pants." Be prepared to laugh! He will be great!!!

We’ve all gotten on and made some attempts. Three of us posted.
Is anyone having problems with the blog? Yes.
The page often won’t show even after many attempts to refresh.
Several times we were unable to get on at all.
Is there a way to edit what you’ve written without rewriting a new post and deleting the old?

Is this accessible to the general public and should we approach the discussion casually or Professionall

Current Tech Plan:

We discussed the current status of our district tech plan, and feel we’d like to get an introduction written as well as word smith our vision, mission, beliefs and action plan.
We’d like to see them all bound with the standards we’ve created, and distributed to the STC’s as well as those who teach technology at the elementary level. The tech plan needs to be ready for print by the end of May.

The next logical step for any continuing investigation or INTAC committee would be reviewing software with the intent of making some recommendations for standardization or suggested purchases for school sites.

Lesson Collection: We’d like to reconsider our lesson collection strategy. Rather than one individual collecting found fourth grade lessons for technology, we’d like to see a collection of all grade levels under one category. For example, one person would collect Webquests at all grade levels, another would collect Word Lessons at all grade levels. The lessons would then be placed on CD ROMs with a table of content listing technology used first with grade level and subject matter second.
Workshop/Lesson in a Box: The Lessons in a Box idea that got shelved at the beginning of the year should be revisited. If we are ever to get teachers who buy into integrating technology, we’re going to have to ofer simple, short lessons on computer basics. These trainings should be offered monthly with a perk at the end of the year for those who attended seven out of nine sessions. The perk should not require lesson plans or projects. The idea is to get them there. The learning and interest will naturally occur. Additional demands will keep teachers from coming.

TESA has created inequities and problems that someone should be addressing.

Why do students who have access to TESA get three chances when students who do not have access get one?
When results come back that a third grade student meets the standard in October, shouldn’t they move out of third grade math?
